LOMBOK 2013 (summertime edition)

hello guys! yeah im back
so today i'd like to share you my experience
in my last new year holiday i went to Lombok with my brother
Lombok is located in Nusa Tenggara Barat
it's an incredible island
the scenery was breath-taking
and it was super amazing adventure
Lombok is well-known for its beautiful beaches and surrounded by some beautiful islands (Gili Trawangan, Giili Meno, and Gili Air)
too bad i was only had 3 days to discover Lombok

As soon as we arrived at Lombok International Airport in Praya, the driver took us to a traditional Sasak village to see how the natives lived here.
This is the front gate of the village, as you can see it's pretty contrast. the circumstance was calm and quite since not much people here.

this is the traditional house of sasak

and also they provide some merchandise
to come in to the house, you should bend because it's some kind of respect to the householder.
natives live by depending on nature.
this house is the most modern house in the village. the roof wasnt made from alang alang and you dont have to bend over to come in.
this is their barn. p.s. sorry i forgot to rotate the picture
they have a place for cooking only.

 the circumtances of the village

this is me, my brother and a native.

inside the house there's not much furniture. the floor was made from dried cow poop.

 *bend over*
the roof was made from dried alang alang

traditional sasak have unique way to get married. The man should 'kidnapped' the woman from her house and took her to a hiding place for several days until finally the man's family proposed to the women's family. this way is the polite way for the native because it's a tradition and they try to keep it. natives also keep other tradition like caste. there's some caste in their tradition but i dont recall any._.

next, we go to Kuta beach. not Bali's Kuta but Lombok's.

this is kuta beach lombok, if i'm not wrong._. so beautiful, so quite, and unbelievable scenery.

different with Kuta Bali, this beach doesnt have strong wave. it's just so calm and crystal clear. i suggest everyone who needs a getaway far from the city to go to Lombok.
not much visitors somehow...
if i lived here i would have over-tanned
my advice is to bring umbrella or use sunblock/sunscreen with SPF 50

one thing that made me uncomfortable was because there was several kids that keep offering me bracelets though i said i don't want it and politely ask them to leave. i left my wallet in the car so i couldnt buy it. my suggestion; just buy 1 or 2 whether you want it or not. that's the only way to make them leave.

i didnt have much time and there was nothing i could do here except enjoying the scenery. but the kids kept bothering me so i couldnt even enjoy it.

Andddd next...
we went to a village that produces woven fabric. one woven fabric takes about 1 month to be done. sasak villagers have tradition that every girl should at least learn and mastered weaving skill before they're married. so their girls start to learn weaving at age around 10 or maybe 12.
This is me. learn how to weave and it's very not easy

i also bought some for me.
Lombok also well-known for its pearl. i bought it for a friend
on the way to Gili
This is it. the famous Gili Trawangan. no wonder, this place is amazing and breath-taking. cant believe what i was seeing

I didnt bring my swimsuit so my brother and i rented a bike and biking around the whole island. it was tiring but we had so much fun.
no need to say a thing. these pictures of mine tell you more than any words i could possibly say
left is Gili Trawangan island, and the right is Gili Meno
im done with this rotating things

picture tells more than words
After that,we went back to Lombok island and headed to Senggigi beach to see the sunset
all the way  back, we saw the beach along the road and also stopped by a temple. i forgot its name already hehehe.
